Passing under the Şchei Gate (1827-1828) and leaving on the left the Catherine’s Tower (1559), inside which the is today seat of the Architects’ Order, it opens the Schei Gate Street, called in the Middle Age Corpus Christi, with six inhabitable houses-historical monument and the neologic Synagogue (at no. 29), erected according to the plans of the architect Leopold Baumhorn (1899-1901).
In close proximity there is the String Street, mentioned for the first time in documents in the XVIIth century, which width varies between 111 and 135 cm. In 2003 the street was restored and enlightened, being included in the touring circuit as a peculiar attraction of the town.
The inscription of the memorial plaque placed on the building's facade on the Şchei Gate no. 3 recalls the fact that here has been founded in 1835 „Casina Română”, a cultural-political society of the Romanians of Brasov.
